Grammarly: Everything You Need to Know

I have to confess that I felt quite shy to write new blog posts on my first couple of weeks of blogging. The reason is that English is not my native languages and I made a ton of mistakes. I still do. And I probably will for the rest of my life. But lucky I have come across this fantastic tool that makes anyone write like a 20-year columnist (ok ok I may have exaggerated but still) It is called Grammarly.

I love Grammarly because it’s super easy to use. There are many ways for you to use Grammarly as you write such as adding the extension to Safari, downloading the app on your Mac or PC or just simply using the website, upload your work and wait for it to do its magic.

Grammarly has both free and premium versions. Where the free version only makes the critical grammar and spelling checks, Grammarly can actually do more. With premium version, it can make

  • Advanced checks for punctuation, grammar, context, and sentence structure,

  • Vocabulary enhancement suggestions,

  • Genre-specific writing style checks,

  • Plagiarism detector that checks more than 16 billion web pages

It’s easy, trust me. You can create your free or premium account on Grammarly website and start using it depending on your preference.

If you choose to download the Chrome extension, It will correct your writing as you write using your browser.

I will be going through how I use Grammarly website and app. The site and the app’s interface are both the same.

So when you’re on the website, the Grammarly will ask you to upload a file. Simply click on “upload” and either start writing or paste the text you want to check.

Once you upload, it will show you all of your mistakes underlined with the reasons for the errors and the correct usage. You can easily click on the underlined word and correct them. See? Easy!

By clicking the “correct with the assistant” button on the top right, you can see all the mistakes grouped by their type and importance. Insights, set goals, and plagiarism options are on the same section as well.

Well, the basic plan is free. But the premium version that gives you all of those features I mentioned above starts from $29.95/ month but gets more than 50% discounted when you sign up for an annual plan. The yearly plan comes to as cheap as $11.66/ month.

I’ve been using Grammarly for almost a month now, and I’ve been quite enjoying it! The free version gives you a great deal, too if you don’t have extra $11.66 a month. You can try the free version before you decide to invest in Grammarly but please do try it, you absolutely will love how easy it makes writing for you!

The #1 Writing Tool

By the way; have I told you that it makes you pat yourself on the back as you write?
